2020 Subaru Outback in Central LA Makes its Debut

Many drivers consider it an SUV, but the 2020 Subaru Outback near Baton Rouge LA is really a station wagon with ground clearance, and its capability as both a cargo hauler and an all-weather companion appeals to buyers with adventure on the mind. Subaru's signature horizontally opposed Boxer engines—a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter six-cylinder—provide very good fuel economy. Now that you know a little about the Outback, let's talk more in detail.

What you can expect in 2020

  •
  • The all-new 2020 Subaru Outback near Baton Rouge LA will ride on Subaru's more rigid and crash-worthy "Global Platform" which now underpins almost all of Subaru's vehicles.
  • A new 2.5-liter base engine with 182 horsepower was added and improved upon the previous model's 175 horsepower.
  • An optional 2.4-liter turbocharged engine with 260 horsepower was added and will likely rocket the Outback from 0-60 in less than seven seconds.
  • A huge tablet-style 11.6" infotainment system replaced the smaller one on the previous model.
  • Improvements were made to the Subaru Eyesight system including DriverFocus distraction mitigation.

Design

The Outback's design will likely match the design of the new 2020 Legacy but with a higher ride height and a wagon-style body. The interior layout should be practically identical. All but the base trim of the sedan will get a new 11.6-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screen. Subaru's EyeSight Driver Driver Assist Technology suite now comes standard on all models, and it gains lane centering for even easier use of the adaptive cruise control. Top trims have driver fatigue monitoring, known as Driver Focus, that can tell when a driver's attention is straying from the road. The range-topping model has a Front View Monitor that uses cameras to monitor the forward blind spots as well.

Safety

Safety takes the front seat in the Outback, and in addition to stellar crash-test results, Subaru provides a suite of driver-assistance features on every model. All-wheel-drive is standard on all models—a hallmark of the Subaru brand—and helps the Outback earn its reputation as an outdoorsman's carryall. This all-new Outback is set to go on sale before the end of 2019.

Power

The biggest change to the 2020 Subaru Outback near Baton Rouge LA will be its new underpinnings. It will shift to the same new global platform as the Legacy, which promises increased rigidity, sharper handling, and improved refinement. A turbocharged Outback also seems a sure bet to return to the lineup, replacing the old six-cylinder 3.6R; similar to the Legacy, it's likely to be called the Outback XT and use the same turbocharged 260-hp 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine first introduced in the Ascent three-row SUV. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 182 horsepower will remain the base engine, and all-wheel drive and a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) will be standard on all models.
